THIS LAND: A CROSS-COUNTRY ANTHOLOGY OF CANADIAN
FICTION FOR YOUNG READERS:
Novel excerpts and short stories by twenty-two of Canada's very
best writers for children and young adults. Each emphasizes a sense
of place, from British Columbia to the Maritimes to the North. The
selections include a variety of age groups, a balance of male and
female protagonists, and different time periods, genres and cultures.
About
This Anthology:
I was thrilled to be asked to be the editor for this book, for I have
always been obsessed with place in literature. My introduction explains
how I grew up not reading much fiction set in Canada, and how much
that has changed for modern children. It was difficult to select only
twenty-two out of the many excellent authors for young people we have.
I'm touched by how often people tell me they have bought this anthology
to give to readers in other countries.
